Singer With Ogden-area Roots To Perform after Horse & Hitch Parade

A Utah-based singer with deep northern Utah roots is set to take the stage on July 17 at the Ogden Amphitheater. The free event, which is part of the Ogden Pioneer Days festivities, will starts at 8 p.m., after the Horse and Hitch parade.

Chris Petersen's time in the spotlight with his guitar will be the third major concert of Ogden Pioneer Days. The country acts Drake White and the Big Fire Band and Runaway Jane and the Wayne Hoskins Band will be the featured performers at the Friday, July 14 concert at the Amphitheater. County favorites Coyote Moon are the headliners at the Cowboy Up Concert on the Plaza on Saturday, July 15 at 8 p.m. at the Junction.

Petersen, known for his butter-smooth voice, was reared in Morgan and grew up attending the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo, which this year is being inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame. His father, Bob Petersen, was born and raised in Farr West, and much of his family still lives there. Bob Petersen spent many years working in downtown Ogden at Cross Western Wear on on Washington Boulevard and participated many times in the bareback riding event during Pioneer Days.  Petersen set his sights on a music career aftert opening for singer Collin Raye in 2014.  That same year, he was featured on the cover of the Standard-Examiner for dedicating his music video "Every Time I Hear the Rain" to police officers and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.

As a musician, Petersen sticks to his country roots. He loves playing traditional country music and cites such artists as George Strait, Merle Haggard and Chris Ledoux as his musical idols. These influences also are reflected in Petersen's songwriting.  His sophomore album is expected to be released this year. Petersen has played all across the Intermountain West but especially enjoys coming home to Utah to share his talent.  Join us under the stars for a night of traditional country with a hometown boy.
